Registered Training Organization

Introduction

Work within the Aged Care and Disability sector requires certified qualifications and experience.  Independent Health Care Service is a Registered Training Organisation and regularly conducts Nationally recognised Certificate II and III courses for Aged Care and Disability support workers. These courses are designed to provide trainees with a combination of training room theory and practical work placement to develop those competencies required for work within the industry.

Supplementary qualifications such as a First Aid and Fire Safety are also increasingly becoming an expectation for people working within the industry.  Independent Health Care Service are not scoped to provide these competencies but are able to facilitate access to other registered training and assessment providers when required.

Additional Information

Recognition  is a significant part of certificate III courses.

Recognition represents a form of assessment that may take place independently of  training.  The assessment process takes into account the individuals existing knowledge and skills, including  formal and informal learning however acquired.  Assessment may utilise a variety of evidence gathering techniques that demonstrate both current and historical competence.  This form of recognition is also referred to as recognition of prior learning (RPL) and recognition of current competencies.  (RCC) Further resources are available from Independent Health Care Service to guide those seeking recognition.

Credit Transfer

Credit transfer is the automatic granting of a competent result in a unit of competency based on a students satisfactory result in another unit.  Credit is available when the equivalence between the two units is clearly stated in a course curriculum or Training Package.  Credit transfer , therefore, is judged on the similarity of units rather than the student’s individual performance

Mutual Recognition

As a Registered Training Organisation, Independent Health Care Service is obliged to accept current qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other Registered Training Organisations.
